New sponge stops bleeding faster after wisdom tooth extraction
NCT ID NCT07638930
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new dental sponge called Colibricare (Coli-sorb®) in 124 patients having their wisdom teeth removed. The sponge was compared to a standard gauze and a commercial sponge. Researchers measured how quickly bleeding stopped, pain levels, swelling, and wound healing over six weeks. The goal was to see if the new sponge works better for controlling bleeding and easing discomfort after oral surgery.

Active substance
Colibricare (Coli-sorb®) dental sponge
What this could lead to
If it works well, this sponge could become a standard option for controlling bleeding and reducing pain after dental surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 124 patients. The results may not apply to everyone, and the sponge might not be better than existing products in all situations.
