Non-Invasive heart scan could spare patients from risky catheter procedure
NCT ID NCT06790836
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether a special CT scan (FFR CT) can accurately measure blood flow in the heart's arteries compared to the standard invasive test. Researchers will review data from 500 patients with suspected coronary artery disease. If FFR CT proves accurate, it could reduce the need for invasive procedures, lowering risks and costs.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could support using a non-invasive CT scan instead of an invasive catheter procedure to diagnose blocked heart arteries, making diagnosis safer and cheaper.
What could go wrong
This is a retrospective study looking at past data, not a controlled trial. It can show correlation but cannot prove that FFR CT works better than standard care. Results may not apply to all patients.
