Frozen testicle tissue may help infertile men have kids

NCT ID NCT07364409

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This experimental study tests whether frozen-thawed testis tissue, when grafted under the skin, can produce sperm in men with infertility. Five men will receive their own stored tissue. The goal is to see if viable sperm can be retrieved, potentially offering a future fertility option for cancer survivors.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Autologous transplantation of testis tissue

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a way for men who lost fertility due to cancer treatment to father biological children.

What could go wrong

This is a tiny, early-stage study with only 5 men. It may not produce viable sperm, and the procedure is experimental with unknown long-term safety.
