Cancer Patients' egg freezing: which trigger works best?
NCT ID NCT07546136
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looks at two ways to trigger ovulation in women with cancer who are freezing their eggs before chemotherapy. One method uses a GnRH agonist alone, the other combines it with hCG (dual trigger). The goal is to see which approach retrieves more eggs while reducing the risk of a complication called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). About 200 patients will be enrolled and assigned to one of the two groups based on their clinical needs.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
triptorelin (GnRH agonist) with or without urinary hCG
What this could lead to
If successful, this could identify the best way to trigger ovulation in cancer patients, helping them retrieve more eggs for fertility preservation before chemotherapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (200 patients) comparing two standard approaches, so it may not show a clear winner. The dual trigger may increase the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
