ICU pain drug showdown: which one helps patients wake up faster?

NCT ID NCT07224620

Summary

This study aims to find out if one of two commonly used pain and sedation medicines (fentanyl or hydromorphone) is better for adults in the ICU who need help breathing from a machine. Researchers will compare the drugs to see if one leads to patients needing less total medication, spending less time on the ventilator, or having fewer complications like delirium. About 300 patients will be enrolled in this pilot study.
