Vein size may predict blood pressure trouble in elderly surgery

NCT ID NCT07339475

First seen Jan 18, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at whether measuring the width of a large vein in the leg with ultrasound can help predict sudden low blood pressure in older patients (over 60) having lower-limb orthopedic surgery under spinal anesthesia. Researchers will measure the vein before the procedure and track blood pressure changes during surgery. The goal is to find a simple, non-invasive way to identify patients at higher risk, so doctors can take steps to prevent complications.
