Could a poop transplant ease autism symptoms? new trial investigates

NCT ID NCT06290258

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether transferring healthy gut bacteria from a donor (a fecal microbiota transplant) can improve both gastrointestinal problems and core autism symptoms. It will involve 60 participants aged 7-30 with autism and gut issues. Researchers aim to see if changing the gut's bacteria can positively affect behavior, emotions, and sleep through the 'brain-gut' connection.
