Sugar-Based radiation: a new hope for advanced cancers?
NCT ID NCT02130492
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests whether high doses of a radioactive sugar called FDG can safely shrink tumors in people with advanced stage IV cancers that no longer respond to standard treatments. FDG is taken up by cancer cells because they use a lot of sugar, and the radiation inside the FDG may kill those cells. The study is currently suspended and aims to check safety and whether tumors shrink on scans.
