Fake-Fast diet may soothe gum treatment side effects
NCT ID NCT06074861
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special 5-day plant-based diet that mimics fasting can reduce mouth and body inflammation after deep cleaning for advanced gum disease. 28 adults with stage III-IV periodontitis were randomly assigned to either follow the diet three times or continue their normal eating. Researchers measured inflammation through blood tests and other samples to see if the diet helps calm the body's response to treatment.
