Race against time: new app aims to get sick babies the right antibiotic dose 48 hours faster

NCT ID NCT05770622

Summary

This study aims to help babies with serious infections like sepsis get the right dose of a key antibiotic (vancomycin) faster. Currently, doctors must wait 1-2 days to check if the dose is correct, delaying optimal treatment. Researchers are testing if checking drug levels after the very first dose and using a special online calculator to adjust the dose immediately can get babies to the right therapeutic level much sooner.
