Family training before bypass surgery eases anxiety and builds resilience
NCT ID NCT07243925
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether training family members to help before and after coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) improves patient outcomes. 54 adults having their first bypass surgery were split into two groups: one received standard care, and the other had a family member trained to be actively involved. Results showed that the family-involved group had less anxiety before surgery, greater independence, and stronger psychological resilience. The approach is simple and could be widely used to support recovery.
