NCT ID NCT07714993
First seen Jul 20, 2026 · Last updated Jul 21, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding individual and family education to standard scoliosis-specific exercises can reduce stress, improve body image, and increase quality of life in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis. About 42 teens aged 10–18 will be randomly assigned to receive either exercises alone or exercises plus family education. Researchers will measure stress, anxiety, depression, deformity perception, quality of life, and how well participants follow their exercise routine.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Physiotherapeutic Scoliosis-Specific Exercises (PSSE) plus individual/family education
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this approach could improve emotional well-being and exercise adherence for teens with scoliosis, without additional medical procedures.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 42 participants, so results may not apply to all teens with scoliosis. The added benefit of family education over exercises alone may be modest.
