Eye-Tracking test may spot hidden seizures and attention issues in kids
NCT ID NCT06310772
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a simple eye-tracking system can identify children with childhood absence epilepsy and related thinking problems. Researchers compared eye movement recordings from 60 participants (kids with epilepsy and healthy controls) to standard tests. The goal is to develop a faster, cheaper way to diagnose and monitor this condition, helping kids get support sooner.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a quick, low-cost eye-tracking test to diagnose childhood absence epilepsy and spot attention problems early.
What could go wrong
This was a small, completed study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to all kids. The test is still experimental and not yet ready for clinic use.
