First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests whether writing about a stressful childbirth experience for 15 minutes a day over three days can prevent post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and improve bonding with the baby. Researchers are recruiting 136 women who recently gave birth at Massachusetts General Hospital and are at risk for PTSD. Participants will be randomly assigned to write about their birth or a neutral topic, then complete surveys and assessments up to three months after delivery.
