Pig kidney transplant trial offers new hope for kidney patients

Summary

This study tests a genetically modified pig kidney (called the 10 GE Xenokidney) in 50 adults with end-stage kidney disease who cannot get a human kidney transplant or face a long wait. The goal is to see if the pig kidney works safely and well, improving survival and quality of life. Participants will be followed for life to monitor the kidney's function and check for infections.
