Can tiny exercise bursts improve sleep apnea symptoms?
NCT ID NCT07634029
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 24, 2026
Summary
This study will test whether short bursts of exercise spread throughout the day (called exercise snacks) can improve sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, and physical function in people with obstructive sleep apnea. 39 adults with moderate to severe sleep apnea will be randomly assigned to either an aerobic exercise group, an exercise snacking group, or a control group. The goal is to see if exercise snacks offer a convenient alternative to traditional longer workouts.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
exercise snacks (short bouts of exercise spread throughout the day) and aerobic exercise training
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that short, easy-to-fit exercise snacks are a practical alternative to longer workouts for improving sleep and daily function in people with sleep apnea.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 39 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The study hasn't started yet, and the benefits of exercise snacks are still unproven.
