First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a supervised exercise program combined with oral nutritional supplements can prevent disability in hospitalized adults aged 75 and older who are malnourished or at risk. Around 102 participants will be randomly assigned to either the exercise-plus-nutrition group or standard hospital care. The goal is to see if this approach helps maintain physical function and independence during and after hospitalization.

Active substance
physical exercise program and oral nutritional supplements
What this could lead to
If it works, this could help older adults maintain their ability to walk and care for themselves after a hospital stay.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with no phase, so results may not apply broadly. The exercise program may be too demanding for some participants.
