Elite Rowers' brain chemistry under the microscope after hard workouts
NCT ID NCT06683625
First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looked at 27 elite Polish rowers to see if not eating enough (energy deficiency) changes brain chemicals like serotonin and dopamine, and how that affects performance. Participants did a tough exercise test, and researchers measured their stress hormones, mood, and recovery before, right after, and one hour later. The goal was to understand how energy levels and brain chemistry work together to help athletes train smarter.
