Pedal or pump: study tests best exercise to slow memory decline

NCT ID NCT07600034

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how different types of exercise—cycling or strength training—affect brain function and physical frailty in older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), an early stage of memory loss. About 36 people aged 60 to 85 with MCI will be randomly assigned to 12 weeks of exercise or a control group. Researchers will measure changes in brain blood flow, thinking skills, and physical abilities before, after, and 4 weeks following the program.
