NCT ID NCT03560375
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study looked at three ways to help older adults (65+) with type 2 diabetes improve their body composition and physical function: circuit resistance training (home exercises), a plant-based Mediterranean diet, or the drug empagliflozin. One hundred participants were assigned to one of these groups for 10 weeks, then some groups added exercise for another 10 weeks. The goal was to see which approach—or combination—best helped with weight, muscle, blood sugar, and strength.
