Simple exercise trick may shield cancer patients from chemo nerve pain

NCT ID NCT04652609

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a special exercise program, called PRESIONA, can prevent nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) caused by chemotherapy in breast cancer patients. The program combines aerobic and strength exercises with blood flow restriction cuffs. Researchers will compare 25 patients doing this program to those receiving usual care, measuring nerve symptoms and quality of life.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
therapeutic exercise combined with blood flow restriction
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a drug-free way to prevent painful nerve damage caused by chemotherapy, improving quality of life for breast cancer patients.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early study (25 people) with no comparison to other prevention methods. The exercise program may be hard to follow, and results may not apply to all patients.
