First seen Mar 03, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at whether exercise helps adults with high anxiety and anxiety disorders (like generalized anxiety, panic, or social anxiety) better learn to unlearn fear. 54 participants either exercised or sat quietly after a fear-extinction task. Researchers measured skin sweat and heart rate to see if exercise improved how well the brain remembered to not be afraid. The goal is to understand how exercise might help anxiety treatments work better.
