First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested if it is safe and possible to collect a blood sample from the portal vein (a major vein near the liver) during a routine endoscopic ultrasound in 23 people with pancreatic cancer. The goal was to find and count circulating tumor cells (cancer cells that have broken off from the main tumor) in that blood. The study did not offer a treatment, but aimed to learn more about how pancreatic cancer spreads.
