New ultrasound technique could predict liver complications

NCT ID NCT04633356

First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study is testing a new, less risky method to measure pressure in the liver's blood vessels using an endoscope with ultrasound. The goal is to see if this measurement can help predict serious problems like bleeding or fluid buildup in people with chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis. About 30 adults with cirrhosis from chronic hepatitis will take part. The procedure is done during a routine scope exam, so no extra steps are needed.
