New vaccine aimed at training immune system to fight advanced breast cancer enters first human tests
NCT ID NCT06746688
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-stage trial tests a new vaccine called ES2B-C001, with or without an immune booster (adjuvant), in 40 people with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer who have already tried other treatments. The vaccine is designed to help the body's immune system recognize and attack cancer cells. The main goal is to check safety and find the best dose, while also looking at whether the vaccine triggers an immune response.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ES2B-C001 (a vaccine) with or without an adjuvant (ISA 51 VD)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new vaccine-based treatment for HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer that helps the immune system fight the cancer.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small phase 1 trial focused on safety, not effectiveness. The vaccine may not trigger a strong enough immune response or may cause side effects. It is only for patients who have already tried other treatments.
