First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tested a nerve block called erector spinae plane block (ESPB) in 66 adults having open-heart surgery. Half received the block before surgery, and half got standard pain medicine. The goal was to see if the block reduces pain and helps the body recover better after surgery. Results showed that ESPB may improve pain control and reduce the need for extra painkillers.
