New pain block after back surgery cuts opioid use
NCT ID NCT07537647
First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a special nerve block, called an erector spinae plane block, could help people recover better after lower back surgery. Fifty adults having lumbar stabilization surgery received the block on both sides of their spine. The goal was to see if it lowered pain scores and reduced the need for strong painkillers like opioids, which can cause side effects such as nausea and drowsiness.
