Nighttime erection monitor reveals hidden side effect of rectal cancer care

NCT ID NCT01843218

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This small study of 12 men with early-stage rectal cancer used a special device to measure nighttime erections three months after surgery. The goal was to objectively detect erectile dysfunction caused by cancer treatment, since patients and doctors often avoid discussing this issue. The study did not test any new treatment but aimed to better understand how common and severe this side effect really is.
