First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a noninvasive technique called Energy Resonance by Skin Stimulation (ERCS) to reduce stress in patients recovering after an ICU stay. 38 adults in a post-ICU rehabilitation unit will receive two ERCS sessions a week apart. Researchers will measure stress levels before and after each session using a simple scale.

- Active substance
- Energy Resonance by Skin Stimulation (ERCS) - a noninvasive technique based on traditional Chinese medicine principles
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to help post-ICU patients manage stress and improve recovery.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small, early study (38 people) with no control group, so results may not be reliable or generalizable. The technique is based on traditional medicine concepts that are not scientifically proven.
