New recovery cocktail aims to get women home faster after keyhole surgery
NCT ID NCT07116564
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a combination of pain medicines and a recovery protocol (ERAS) can shorten hospital stays after laparoscopic gynecologic surgery. About 98 women will be randomly assigned to receive either the ERAS protocol or standard care. The main goal is to see how many hours they stay in the hospital after surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol including celecoxib, lidocaine, fentanyl, and carbohydrate drinks
What this could lead to
If it works, this could lead to shorter hospital stays and less opioid use after gynecologic laparoscopic surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center trial with only 98 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The protocol is complex and may not be easy to implement everywhere.
