NCT ID NCT03245242

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing whether a standardized care plan called Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) can help children and young adults recover faster after urologic reconstructive surgery. The plan includes steps before, during, and after surgery to improve pain control and shorten hospital stays. Researchers will compare recovery outcomes in 85 patients who receive ERAS care to similar patients who had standard care in the past.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to faster recovery, shorter hospital stays, and less need for pain medication after urologic reconstructive surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small pilot study with only 85 participants and uses historical controls, so results may not apply to all patients. The protocol may not improve outcomes as expected.
