Heart attack survivors: could a dual ablation approach stop deadly rhythms?
NCT ID NCT07240441
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This trial tests two ways to treat ventricular tachycardia (a fast, dangerous heart rhythm) in people who have had a heart attack and have an implanted defibrillator. One method uses standard ablation inside the heart; the other also ablates outside the heart. The study will track deaths, electrical storms, and defibrillator shocks over two years to see which approach works better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
catheter ablation (heart procedure)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a more extensive ablation approach (inside and outside the heart) is better at preventing dangerous heart rhythms and shocks from an implanted defibrillator.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-sized trial, not yet proven. The more extensive procedure carries extra risks like bleeding around the heart. Results may not apply to all patients.
