Could a simple solution replace the tourniquet in ankle surgery?

NCT ID NCT07349407

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two methods to keep the surgical area clear during ankle arthroscopy: using a dilute epinephrine solution versus a traditional tourniquet. About 88 people with chronic ankle instability or ligament injuries will be randomly assigned to one method. The goal is to see if the epinephrine approach provides equally good visibility while possibly reducing postoperative pain and side effects.
