DNA clues may reveal hidden stroke risk in seniors getting new heart valves

NCT ID NCT02972008

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study is looking for DNA markers that might predict brain damage in older adults having a minimally invasive heart valve replacement (TAVR). Researchers will measure DNA methylation in blood before and after the procedure and compare it to brain scans. The goal is to find new ways to identify patients at higher risk for silent strokes or cognitive decline.
