New wound therapy for rare skin disease shows early promise

NCT ID NCT05120726

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a treatment for pyoderma gangrenosum, a rare skin condition that causes painful, hard-to-heal ulcers. Researchers used a special wound covering made from donated placenta tissue (EpiFix) followed by skin grafts. The study was stopped early after only 5 people enrolled, so we don't have strong results yet. The goal was to see if this approach could help wounds heal and reduce pain.
