Could a prostate cancer drug help fight a tough breast cancer?

NCT ID NCT02750358

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether taking enzalutamide for one year after standard treatment is practical for people with early-stage triple negative breast cancer that has androgen receptors. About 50 participants will take the drug and report on their quality of life. The main goal is to see how many can stick with the full year of treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

enzalutamide

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for a hard-to-treat breast cancer subtype.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase feasibility study, not a large efficacy trial. It may not show clear benefit, and side effects could limit how many patients can complete the full year of treatment.
