Could a feeding tube after transplant save the gut?
NCT ID NCT07315165
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether starting tube feeding right after a stem cell transplant can reduce severe gut graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in people with blood cancers or disorders. About 112 participants will be randomly assigned to either standard care or early tube feeding. The main goal is to see if early nutrition lowers the risk of serious gut GVHD within the first 100 days.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
enteral nutrition (blenderized tube feed formula)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that early tube feeding lowers the risk of severe gut complications after a stem cell transplant.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial (112 people) testing a dietary intervention, so results may not be definitive or apply to all patients. Tube feeding can cause discomfort or complications.
