First seen Jun 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether giving a special therapy called EMDR to people in the emergency room right after a traumatic event could help prevent post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). About 110 adults who were at high risk for PTSD took part. The therapy uses eye movements to help process stressful memories. The goal was to see if this early help is possible and if it reduces PTSD symptoms months later.
