NCT ID NCT07513896
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a special type of prostate surgery designed to preserve ejaculation in men with an enlarged prostate. The surgery removes extra prostate tissue while protecting the area around the ejaculatory duct. Researchers followed 108 sexually active men for 3 months to see if they could still ejaculate normally and if their urinary symptoms improved. The goal was to find out which factors predict success.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- ejaculation-sparing transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) procedure
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this surgical technique could help men with enlarged prostate maintain normal ejaculation while still relieving urinary symptoms.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, completed study without a control group, so results may not apply to all men. The procedure may not work for everyone, and there are standard surgical risks like bleeding or infection.
