First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a device called Efferon LPS that filters harmful substances from the blood during and after heart surgery. The goal is to see if it can reduce the risk of multiple organ failure, a serious complication. Researchers will enroll 60 adults having heart surgery with a heart-lung machine. The device is used twice: once during surgery and once within 24 hours after.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Efferon LPS device (blood filter cartridge that removes toxins and inflammatory substances)
What this could lead to
If it works, this device could lower the chance of multiple organ failure after heart surgery, helping patients recover better.
What could go wrong
This is a small early study with only 60 patients, so results may not apply to everyone. The device adds extra steps to surgery and could have unknown side effects.
