Scientists probe immune secrets of tuberculosis to find better treatments

NCT ID NCT07638670

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how different types of mycobacterial infections, including drug-resistant tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacteria, change the body's immune response. Researchers will collect blood and other samples from 120 participants, including healthy people and those with active or latent infections. By analyzing immune cells in detail, they hope to uncover new ways to personalize treatment for these serious infections.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this research could reveal new immune targets for personalized treatments of tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not directly lead to new therapies, and results may not apply to all patients.
