Brain wave test may help kids get just the right sedation for MRI

NCT ID NCT06867289

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a special brain wave monitor (EEG) can help doctors choose the right amount of sedation medicine for children who need a brain MRI. About 50 children under 5 years old (or older children who have trouble staying still) will receive a standard low dose of sedation. The EEG score will be checked to see if it can predict which children need a higher dose for a successful scan. The goal is to avoid failed scans and reduce risks from too much or too little sedation.
