Hidden seizures after stroke: EEG may spot them early

NCT ID NCT07190976

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study will use routine EEG recordings in 100 stroke patients to see if brain activity patterns can predict who will develop epilepsy. Researchers also aim to detect hidden (subclinical) seizures that may affect recovery. The study is observational, meaning no new treatment is being tested—just monitoring and data collection.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors identify stroke patients at risk of epilepsy earlier, allowing for timely monitoring or treatment.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not lead to any direct changes in care, and results may not apply to all stroke patients.
