Brain zap combo aims to make shock therapy gentler

NCT ID NCT07324070

Summary

This study is testing if using a non-invasive magnetic brain stimulator (TMS) right before electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) can make the ECT treatment work with less electrical energy. Researchers want to see if this combination helps people with severe, hard-to-treat depression get better faster and wake up quicker after treatment. The study will involve 50 participants and carefully compare results between those who get the real combination and those who get a sham (fake) TMS treatment.
