Ecstasy therapy could be new hope for chronic pain sufferers
NCT ID NCT07301632
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This small pilot study is testing whether a single dose of MDMA (ecstasy), combined with talk therapy, can safely reduce severe chronic nerve pain. Forty adults with long-lasting nerve pain will receive either MDMA or a placebo during a therapy session, followed by more therapy sessions. The main goal is to see if a larger study is possible, but researchers will also check if pain and quality of life improve.
