New dressing could shield critically ill patients from deadly infections
NCT ID NCT05750576
Summary
This study tested whether using a special antiseptic dressing on the tubes (cannulas) of ECMO machines could prevent serious infections. ECMO is a life-support machine used for patients with severe heart or lung failure. Researchers compared the antiseptic dressing to a standard dressing in 270 critically ill patients to see which one better prevented infections at the tube sites.
