Low sodium levels linked to heart rhythm changes in ER patients

NCT ID NCT07255833

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study reviewed medical records of 250 emergency room patients with severe low sodium (hyponatremia) to see how it affects the heart's electrical signals (ECG). Researchers compared ECGs taken when sodium was low and after it returned to normal. The goal was to understand which heart changes occur and if they go away after treatment, but no new treatment was tested.
