NCT ID NCT07593417
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a simpler 3-step hand washing method works as well as the standard 6-step method to prevent infections in hospitals. Over 1,000 patients in different hospital units took part. The goal is to see if making hand hygiene easier can help healthcare workers clean their hands more often and reduce infections.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Simplified 3-step hand hygiene technique
What this could lead to
If the simpler 3-step method works as well as the standard 6-step, it could make hand hygiene easier and faster for healthcare workers, potentially reducing hospital infections.
What could go wrong
This is a completed trial, but the simpler method may not be as effective at preventing infections. Also, results from one hospital network may not apply everywhere.
