Implantable brain device aims to tame Drug-Resistant seizures

NCT ID NCT07301346

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a device called EASEE® that is implanted under the skin and above the skull to stimulate the brain and reduce seizures in people with drug-resistant focal epilepsy. Two hundred adults will receive the implant, and half will have the stimulation turned on for 6 months to compare seizure reduction. The goal is to see if the device is safe and effective over 18 months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

implantable brain stimulator (EASEE® System)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new, minimally invasive option to reduce seizures in people with epilepsy that doesn't respond to medication.

What could go wrong

This is an early pivotal study with 200 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Risks include surgical complications and the device may not reduce seizures for all.
