PET scan spots chemo success early in breast cancer patients
NCT ID NCT00904410
First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a special PET scan (FDG-PET) can detect early if breast cancer is responding to chemotherapy, after just one cycle instead of waiting for three. Researchers scanned 63 women with breast tumors larger than 2 cm before and after their first chemo round. The goal was to see if changes in the scan could predict which patients would benefit, potentially allowing doctors to switch treatments sooner for those not responding.
